Book Extract from WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD
Just before God
cast Adam and Eve out of the Garden, He did something amazing. He demonstrated
that, despite their sin, He still loved him, and that it was His will to
continue to fellowship, and have an everlasting relationship with them.
“But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the
great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved
us, Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive
together in fellowship and in
union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new
life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favour and mercy which you did not deserve)
that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s
salvation).
Ephesians 2: 4-5 – [Amplified Bible]
God took an
innocent animal and sacrificed it, using its skin - still dip in blood - to cover the sin of Adam and his wife,
signifying that “the blood” is the
only way to deal with sin and still have any form of relationship with Him! It
was only a shadow of the true sacrifice which was to be revealed in Christ
Jesus – 0ur Passover Lamb – at God’s
own appointed time.
By initiating man
into a “blood relationship” with
Himself, God could cover and overlook man’s sin for a season.
Though the blood
of an animal was not powerful enough to destroy or redeem man from sin, but it could
pacify God’s wrath and delay God’s judgement upon those who served Him under the
old law. Total redemption only comes through the blood of Jesus, who is the
mediator of the New Testament – Hebrews 9:
15
This meant that there was no way Adam and Eve
could approach God without “the blood
sacrifice”. In other words, “no blood” means, “no access”. Adam and Eve had to take this new revelation on board
and even teach it to their children!
